Review: L’Oreal 24-Hr Infallible Eyeshadow

5

From the moment I first glimpsed the L’Oreal 24-Hr Infallible Eyeshadows, I knew I had to try them eventually!

The texture is quite rich and thick, a cream shadow with a mousse-like texture which dries to a foiled finish on the skin. It comes in 18 shades — everything from clean white to vibrant aqua to brooding plums to icy neutrals! For a drugstore eyeshadow, these shades are surprisingly complex.

I’m going to jump right into the swatches!

“Eternal Sunshine” – This color is a gorgeous canary gold, which conveys a luminous finish. A stunner on baby blues 😊

“Amber Rush” – The penultimate rose gold shadow! Perfect for all skin tones and eye colors, with dueling pink and gold undertones. Gorgeous for a one-shadow eye look, applied to the lid and blended up into the crease.

“Bronzed Taupe” – A must-have neutral — fit to rival Mac’s “Satin Taupe”! High on pigment and shine.

“Liquid Diamond” – Beautiful silver with hints of lavender and periwinkle. Quite a complex shade, a quality which the photo does not adequately portray.

“Glistening Garnet” – Shimmering maroon, with a touch of russet. Particularly flattering for green eyes.

“Smoldering Plum” – Eggplant sheen with subtle red sparkles. A sophistocated fall eyeshadow color!

These shadows do not crease and, while not living up to their 24-hour claim, hold up like champions during a long 12-hour workday. At $8 apiece, you can own quite a few of them without breaking the bank! In terms of quality, they are dupes for the lovely Chanel “D’Ombre” shadows — at a fraction of the cost. Indeed, some shades even remind me of Giorgio Armani’s famous “Eyes to Kill” shadows. The finish of the L’Oreal shadows is undoubtedly metallic (a finish I adore!), although the line does boast one or two mattes.

For stellar drugstore eyeshadows, look no further than these little jewels. Loves ’em! 😍

Final Verdict: 5/5 Stars

Available at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Target, & ULTA for $8

Autumn Makeup Look

Hello guys!

Any fall makeup look will bring greater contrast to the features, with deeper colors and jewel tones. Classic fall colors include plums, berries, golds, burgundies, reds, and wines — all the colors of changing leaves.

Below I have modeled a sample fall makeup look — and will explain the color theory behind it!

Products Used:

2) Eyeshadow (Lid) – Flower Beauty Color Play Creme Shadow in “Mum’s the Word” {Rose Gold}
3) Eyeshadow (Crease) – Clinique All About Shadow in “Chocolate-Covered Cherry” {Plum with Subtle Sheen}
4) Blush – Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in “Blushing Bride” {Sparkling Berry}
5) Lipstick – Nars Lipstick in “Scarlet Empress” {Wine/Mulberry}
6) Eyeliner – L’Oreal Infallible 24-Hour Lacquer Liner in “Blackest Black”
7) Mascara – L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Excess Mascara in “Blackest Black”

A review of color theory will explain this eye look — and enable you to create any eyeshadow or makeup look you desire!

Contrasts are pleasing to the eye. Colors are divided into WARM and COOL shades, and the contrast between these two constitute an essential element of beauty.

WARM Shades (Earth Tones)
Browns
Reds
Oranges (including coral)
Yellow (including gold)

COOL Shades (Jewel Tones)
Blues
Purples
Pinks

Green is NEUTRAL.

So if you play with this concept, you can pair these colors, particularly those opposite one another on the color wheel, to create striking makeup looks! For example, in this look, I have paired a warm-toned rose gold shadow (on the lid) with a cool-toned plum shadow (in the crease):

Until next time!
